Kerry accuses Bush of peddling influence

According to MSNBC, the Kerry campaign plans to go forward with evidence that Bush is in bed with special interests, noting specific donors and the favors they've received. They also will reportedly provide a list of members of the current administration who formerly worked in the industries they now oversee

The first, and predictable, republican response has been that this charge is hypocritical and that Kerry is guilty of the same thing.

My question is, how vulnerable is Kerry to counterclaims? If Bush can counter with a similar list, even a somewhat shorter one, then this strategy will go nowhere. However, if all they can do is shout Kerry down as a hypocrite in the face of names and figures, then I really like this move.

My concern is that while Kerry may be a lot less vulnerable to this charge than Bush, Rove et al will simply make up or grossly exaggerate some similar allegations against Kerry and try to drown out the issue altogether.
